Association History

Founded amidst the ancient pines of Minnesota, the MN Bear Guides Association was born from a collective commitment to preserve the art and ethics of guiding. For decades, our members have navigated the deep woods, building a legacy of stewardship and excellence that defines the professional standard of our region.

Our impact extends beyond the hunt; it is felt in our strengthened community and the elevated expertise shared across our network. Through meaningful educational initiatives and advocacy, we ensure that every guide represents the pinnacle of mastery, fostering a future where Minnesota's bear guiding tradition remains unmatched.

Some of our recent accomplishments include

Fought for and successfully implemented the surplus tags.

Stopped the baiting ban on National Forest Land.

We’re active in the legislature, pushing for issues facing bear hunters.

We have helped with DNR bear research.

We are currently working to lower the age when youth can start applying for bear tags.

We have fought attacks on bear baiting at the state level.

We got tracking dogs approved for bear hunting.

Fought against hound hunting in the state.
